Overview

MacBooster 8 provides a one-click solution and seven tools to boost your Mac to its top performance, clean up all kinds of junk files to regain valuable storage space and remove a variety of malware to ensure your Mac’s security.

With the enhanced tools, such as Memory Clean and Startup Optimization, MacBooster 8 can bring your Mac performance to a new level and let you enjoy the ultimate speed of your Mac for both work and entertainment. What's more, the revamped System Status UI displays information more concise and provides you a more consistent operation. The optimized algorithmic logic makes the clean up more thoroughly than ever.

When you open MacBooster 8, you will see the above System Status window. This window gives you an overview of your Mac System Status.

System Status presents three features and a scan button. The three features are System Junk, Virus & Malware Scan, and Turbo Boost. You can click the Scan button to check your Mac status quickly. Besides, there is a list of useful tools which can help you free up more space.

Let’s start with System Status.

MacBooster 8 has a new feature which allows the user to switch between the default window and a more concise one by dragging the window’s left or right border. Above is how the simpler user interface looks like.

To help you know your Mac’s performance easily, MacBooster 8 assesses your Mac’s system status as Unknown, Dangerous, Poor, and Good depending on different scan results for System Junk, Virus & Malware Scan, and Turbo Boost accordingly.

Clicking the Fix button will repair all issues found to give you a faster Mac with a significant amount of additional free space regained.

System Junk

This module helps you take care of the unneeded items generated by your system and applications. After you choose System Junk on the left panel to scan, you will be presented with a visual result showing how much space is occupied by different file types. You can either click the Clean button to remove those files or click the Details button to check the details as below:

Application Junk Files - Some junk files are automatically generated while the application is being used. They can be removed without a second thought.

Mac Software Installer - The install packages of Mac apps will be of no use once installed. They can be removed to free up more space.

Language Files - Many applications on the Mac contains a large number of language files. To remove unused language files can free up more disk space.

System Log Files - The activity of the system applications and services is stored constantly, however numerous logs will drag your Mac down.

System Cache Files - System applications always generate a lot of cache files, which may slow down your Mac’s overall performance.

Broken Login Items - In some cases, after an application or a service is removed, a broken link may still exist among the Login items. Removing broken links will save more resources on your Mac.

Mail Attachments - Too many old mail attachments make your email system burdensome. Removing the downloaded attachments can free up more space.

Leftovers - Some remnants may still left on your Mac even after the related applications are deleted. They are good-for-nothing.

Trash Cleanup - It helps you empty Trash folders of Mac’s internal and external volumes for better performance.

iOS Photo Cache - After you sync photos by any iOS devices, there must be some photo caches left on your Mac, which just consume your space.

User Downloads - Some downloaded files may become useless. You can remove them if you confirm you don’t need them anymore.

iOS Software Updates - The updates may become useless after you complete the updates. You can remove them to regain space.

Xcode Derived Data - For developers, there may be tons of intermediate build information and project index generated by Xcode. Cleaning up them can help you to free up some space.

iTunes Backups - iTunes backups will become outdated as the data on your device is changing constantly. You can easily clean up iTunes backups if you confirm they are outdated.

iOS Applications - iTunes backups the downloaded apps on Mac. Removing the backup files from iTunes won’t affect your device.

iTunes Broken Downloads - For many reasons, your Mac may store some incomplete iTunes download data. Deleting these data won't cause any problems.

iTunes Cache - iTunes music album artworks may take up gigabytes of space, and your Mac may get stuck with a growing number of artwork cache files. Removing the artwork cache files can free up more space.

Application Old Updates - Updates of the third party apps will not be deleted automatically after updated. Removing the outdated application updates can free up space for your Mac.

Xcode iOS Log - If Xcode is used to develop iOS apps, a significant amount of log files will be generated in the development process. Those Xcode iOS Log files can be removed to speed up your project.

Mac Localization Files - Your Mac's operating system comes with dozens of language files, most of which you'll never use. Deleting unneeded language files can help to save valuable disk space on your Mac.

Virus & Malware Scan

This module protects your Mac from various kinds of threats, and provides you with solutions to fix them and keep your Mac safe.

Malware Removal Powerfully remove the stubborn malware or malicious files to keep your Mac safe.

Virus Scan - Scan and remove viruses to keep your Mac away from nuisance viruses. You can click the Fix button in the bottom middle of the window to remove those viruses.

Turbo Boost

Turbo Boost

Turbo Boost brings an easy way to speed up your Mac. Just click the Boost button at the bottom middle of the window to free up more space and let your Mac reach its peak performance by:

1. Cleaning up cache files generated by 3rd party apps.

2. Cleaning up iTunes media cache.

3. Fixing the disk permission issues of your Mac.

Memory Clean

Memory Clean

It targets to speed up your Mac by releasing memory.

It presents both Free and Used memory information. Once clicking the Clean button at the bottom center part of the window, you will get more available memory to start your applications faster. However, you are not recommended to release it frequently.

Clicking the Details button guides you to an intuitive memory usage window where you can quickly find out the processes that occupy high memory and close them to boost your Mac performance.

Privacy Protection

This module securely clears surfing traces on Safari and Chrome, Recent Items List, and App Traces to protect your privacy.

The surfing traces of Safari and Chrome generally contain the following items:

Cookies - It shows which parts of the websites visited, and helps measure the effectiveness of web searches. However, it may also expose private information to criminals.

Browsing History - It refers to the list of web pages you visited.

Download History - It refers to the list of all downloaded files.

HTML6 Local Storage - With HTML7 Local Storage, web applications can store data locally within the user's browser.

Tabs from Last Session - It refers to the list of tabs opened last time when you use the browser.

Saved Passwords - It stores the passwords you use to access some websites and then automatically fills them in when you visit these websites next time.

Recent Items List - It includes recently opened applications, recently opened documents, and recently accessed servers. Removing them can avoid exploitation by hackers.

App traces - Removing App traces can not only help you free up more space but also fully protect your privacy.

This module provides you with an easy and powerful uninstalling function. Please select the item you don't want and click theUninstall button to remove it.

In order to make it easier for you to find and remove the items, you can sort items by name, size, and last used.

Complete Remove - For the unwanted applications, you can simply click the Complete Remove button to uninstall them completely.

Application Reset - If an application contains its own data and configuration files, you can click the Application Reset button to delete all the data and configuration files to reset the application to its initial state. After the reset is completed, the application will start working from its initial state when you launch it next time.

Startup Optimization

In this screen, MacBooster 8 lists all Login items on your Mac. You can tick the startup items you don't need, and then click the Disable button to disable them to be launched at Login.

The Recommendation column gives you appropriate suggestions to manage the startup items based on our analysis of your Mac's performance and relevant data.

What’s more, you can also click the Add Item button to add your favorable items to run when your Mac starts up.

Large & Old Files

It helps you locate, view, and remove large old files, folders and applications easily.

Your Home folder is the default location to scan. However, you can manually click the Add Folder button to add more folders to scan or click the Clear List button to get a fresh start.

In order to make it easier for you to sort and view the files, you are provided with three display options.

It helps you locate and remove the duplicated files on your Mac quickly. Your Home folder is the default location to scan. You can click Add Folderbutton to add folders to scan or click Clear List button to get a fresh start. After selecting a folder and clicking the Scan button in the bottom middle of the window, you will see all duplicate files in the selected folders.

In order to make it easier for you to sort and view the files, you are provided with several useful display criteria:

It sorts items by size, name, type, quantity, and already selected items to easily locate the items and remove them.

Smart check

Smart check

It adopts its own algorithms to show the results and recommends you which item can be safely removed once Smart check is ticked. You can also check whether the recommendation meets your requirements. If not, please click the Cancel button.

Once you click the Smart Clean button, it will show you a window to convert duplicate files to Alias and just leave the original one on your Mac. And you can manage the original files by clicking the text link Duplicates Backups as showed in the following picture:

Photo Sweeper

It effectively and quickly helps you find similar or duplicated photos. Your Home folder is the default location to compare. However, you can click the Add Folder button to add folders to scan or click the Clear List button to get a fresh start.

After comparing the similar or duplicated photos, you are presented with the similar or duplicated photos. By right clicking a photo, you will see several options: Select the group, Add to Ignore List, Delete, Delete the selected, Open with Preview, and Reveal in Finder.

Please keep in mind that the photo cannot be restored from Trash once deleted. But if you want to put it back, you can just import the photo from your iPhoto again.

With Preferences you can further tweak and personalize MacBooster 8 to make it work even more effectively.

You can either open the Preferences window by pressing ‘Command’ and ‘,’ keyboard shortcut or access it from the far right top of the MacBooster 8 main screenshot. Preferences consist of 6 tabs as below.

You can choose the display language for MacBooster 8, and set it to check for updates automatically.

System Junk

System Junk

Choose the items you'd like to scan: Displays the items on your system. You can tick the items to scan per your needs.

System languages to keep: Displays system languages installed on your Mac.

Virus & Malware Scan

Virus & Malware Scan

Virus & Malware Scan supports to scan two modules: Malware Removal and Virus Scan.

Each module provides three scan modes: Fast Scan, All Disks Scan, and Custom Scan. You can choose one of them to scan.

Fast Scan - Quickly and effectively scan critical parts of your Mac.

All Disks Scan - It scans all parts of your Mac for security issues. It may take longer time.

Custom Scan - Choose items you want to scan. You can click the button to add items to scan or click the button to remove it.

The settings are available for two tools. You can click the ‘Restore’ to get back the original startup items in Startup Optimization, or click ‘Restore’ to get back the original duplicate items in Duplicates Finder.

MacBooster Mini

Always keep MacBooster mini running: Tick this option to allow it run in the background and give you quick access to MacBooster 8 at all times.

Force uninstall when application is moved to Trash: Tick this option to clear up the leftovers of applications in Trash.

Ignore List

Ignore List

If you don’t want to scan the items in Virus & Malware Scan, System Junk, Duplicates Finder, Large & Old Files, Photo Sweeper and Privacy Clean, click the button to exclude them or click Restore Defaults to reset.

Logs

The activity of MacBooster 8 is always captured into numerous logs. Once any issue occurred, you can look over the log to find some details or send us those logs so we can further locate and fix the issue.

Mini icon

MacBooster Mini shows the intuitive graphics of your network status in real time and also enables you to quickly deep clean your disk to release memory. What's more, it empties the Trash for you to regain more space.

The Lightning Booster option enables you boost your Mac more efficiently with only one click.
